When tasked with creating my own playing card designs, I knew that I didn't want to do anything crazy with it. While the detailed and intricate designs commonly found on playing cards are nice, they are not what I really prefer. Instead, I decided to go with a minimalistic design, with simplified shapes and layouts, and with icons that effectively show the King, Queen and Jack cards while still maintaining the minimalist design. This approach is something I haven't really seen on any playing cards, so it was a challenge trying to figure out how I wanted everything laid out. The end result is a design that successfully uses white space and symmetry to create the perfect type of minimalist layout designers like myself seem to collectively love.
