I had originally taken this photo of a decoration for my photography class, but I had always thought that it could use a little more mood than what was captured in the middle of the day. I set to work on this piece with the intent to convey a somber, calm feeling in the design. To achieve this, I decided early on to go with a cool color palette, adding a blue color over everything. I believe that the emphasis on the dark black of the bird and bell creates a nice contrast against the blurry blue sky and scenery. And the blue definitely gives the overall feeling of the cold of winter, exactly as planned.
