This piece was a personal project of mine to test how well I had mastered Adobe Illustrator up to that point, using one of my favorite videogames Sonic the Hedgehog as the subject. I wanted to go for a style that was as in your face and busy as possible in the background, with the subject of the piece completely overlapping every other element in the design, to create emphasis and make everyone know that it is the main focus of the piece. Going through the creation of this piece was truly a test of my abilities and mastery of the program, and the end result I couldn't be happier with. the repeating patterns found throughout create a sense of variety and adds visual interest throughout, a stark contrast to the relatively simple design of the subject.
